Server updates not posted automatically

I have a LAN using a Windows 2000 server (sp4). I have configured
Automatic updates to occur at 5:00 AM (after backups are run). When I
look at the server I see where they have been downloaded but they are
not automatically installed. I checked the Auto Updates option in the
Control Panel. It is set to automatically retrieve and install them at
5:00 AM.

I have been manually allowing them by double clicking on the tray icon
but that's too tedius. How can I check to see WHY this server is not
automatically installing these updates?

Not sure, but honestly, on servers I never like to enable "automatically
update" - only automatically download & notify. I like more control over
updates on servers than on workstations.

You might check your Windows update log file(s)....and event logs.
