Automatic Updates now updating Service Packs!

I have recently set all users computers to automatically
run updates at night, but I have noticed that computers
that did not have service pack 4 installed yet didn't do
it automatically?!? Should it have downloaded SP4 and
installed it when I set auto update to install them?

The Automatic Updates client is included in SP3 and SP4. If you have SP2,
SP1 or (God forbid) Gold clients then they will do nothing.

Wouldn't these computers need to be logged in as Administrator for this to work? The option should come up if you accessed Windows Update site manually.

No

Automatic Updates is a service and has the necessary rights to install the
updates regardless of user rights. The user will get a different amount of
control of the patching process depending on their rights on the box.
