Server question

I am new to FrontPage and web site design. While checking the mechanics of
our company intranet web site, I checked the Web Settings, and found
something puzzeling. Under "Server version" is says "No server currently in
use" What does this mean? Can a web be published without a server? The web
is available through network places, but has a url. As I said I am new to
this and will not be going for training until December. Our web was published
without company IT input, so they will not help me. My boss has tasked me to
manage the web, but has not provided much direction. Is there a good
publication for FrontPage that is user friendly for a novice?

What is the path in network services??
If the web is being viewed as a shared resource with a standard file path there is no server
involved.
When viewed via a standard http:// url then there would be a server involved.
If you open the web in FrontPage via the http:// url then you should be able to see the server info.

That's a path to a disk based web being viewed as a shared file on a file server.
There is no web server involved.
