Purchasing a Asus P5NSLI w/ Pentium D 830 3.0 Ghz. Cpu...

I have done my homework, but I would like to hear any feedback you folks may
have about the good and bad you have had with this combo. I like the
motherboard, as it is loaded with features. SLI, SATA raid, nVidia 570
Chipset, 4 DIMM Slots upto 4 gigs of DDR(2), etc. Plus I can always grab a
core duo if I want. Helk, it even has decent onboard sound.

I haven't decided on the RAM as of yet, but I would like to spring for DDR2,
but I don't know yet. Any opinions or Issues? I'm not going to go all out on
RAM right now, I just want a very stable, decent speed gig or two for now.
Non-ECC. Is dual channel worth the investment now, or can I still get decent
performance with Single layer? Suggestions please.
I play a few games, nothing serious. I do some video editing, and some
burning. I'm also running Vista. My current setup just isn't doing it
anymore. More or less I just like to have the power at hand. I have heard
quite a few opinions about the Pentium D Throttling issues, but I don't
think it will apply to me

Check the Asus manual to see exactly what kind of RAM you need. Also, I
don't see a point in getting the Pentium D now. Even the cheapest C2D kills
the D.

Because it comes as a combo, and the price of "even the cheapest C2D"
($189.00) is still more than twice the P-D830 ($89.00). And I did check the
manual. I was looking for personal experience opinions from people who own
the board. But, thanks for stating the obvious.
