Separate Profiles in Outlook 2000

Hi.
I am in a business environment. I have used Outlook Express for years and
made use of the "Identities" option to keep mail for 2 different companies
completely separate. I am now attempting to switch to Outlook and have the
equivalent set up.
I have Outlook 2000 and have switched to the "Corporate or Workgroup"
setting. I'm also running Win XP Pro.

First I opened Outlook and created Profile A (which has four e-mail
addresses set up within it). I transferred all of my settings, e-mails, and
contacts over and then started playing with my settings.

Once things seemed ok there, I went into Mail and created the other two
profiles B (with four e-mail addresses) & C (with two e-mail addresses).

I also set it up to ask me which profile to use each time I open Outlook.

Now the problem...
If I open as profile A, everything looks the way I set it up however, it
seems to be receiving from all ten e-mails from all 3 profiles. It even
receives mail from e-mails that I had unchecked in the properties to "not
include when checking for new mail".
If I open as profile B, it looks exactly like profile A with all my folders
and e-mails there. I had expected a blank or new screen where I could import
all my e-mails and contacts from my old OE identity B.
Same thing if I open profile C.

Where did I go wrong?

I hope I included enough sepcifics... if not, just let me know.

Thank you!

I suspect, then, that your addresses are all really aliases of each other.
Are they all hosted on the same mail server? When you connect to that mail
server, do you use the same username/password in the account settings?

Did you specify the same or a different PST in each profile definition?

The e-mail addresses are all different users under our company domain with
different passwords (i.e.: (e-mail address removed), (e-mail address removed)).
However, the comment about different PST in each profile definition, doesn't
sound familiar. That's probably where I'm going wrong.
I'll look that up and post back.
Thank you.

OK. I created separate .pst file for each profile.
Now, when I open each profile, I get the "blank slate" and it only checks
the e-mails assigned to that profile.
Thank you so much for your help!!!

That's great. You're welcome.
