Sent Items Problem

I have recently encountered a situation where sent messages randomly are not
put into the Sent Items folder of Windows Mail even though that option is
checked in my Options settings. This problem never occurred until about two
days ago. I have unchecked and rechecked this option and rebooted the PC,
but no resolution.

As I said it occurs randomly, but more often than not. For example, I can
send several test messages to the same receipient that correctly get put into
the Sent Items folder, and then without changing any settings whatsoever one
to the same receipient does not get placed there.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thank
you.

Just a SWAG but are you low on disk space?

Thanks for the suggestion, but disk space should not be the problem. I've
got over 60% of the disk free.

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail.

Thanks Gary for your suggestion. I'm using Norton Internet Security, and
it's current on all updates. Other than these periodic updates, I've been
using the same NIS product for quite a while without experiencing this
problem.

However, I may have stumbled on a cause. There were just over 500 messages
in the Sent Items Folder when this problem surfaced. I deleted about half of
them yesterday, and so far the problem has not reoccurred. I'm wondering if
there may be some capacity limitations with mail folders, although I have not
yet found any documentation to support this. I would appreciate any thoughts
you might have about this possibility. Thanks again for your interest.

Most versions of the Norton and McAfee antivirus programs tend to
cause assorted problems in Windows Mail, even with all their updates,
although slowly enough it may take months for the problems to appear.
A recent version of the Trend antivirus software also causes assorted
problems in Windows Mail.

The problem appears to be resolved. If I am correct about this then the
cause was definitely a capacity problem with the folder, and it looks like
approximately 500 messages in the folder was the limit. Thanks again to
those who tried to help me resolve this problem.

Nonsense. Before sending this message I have 1270 messages in Sent Items.

That's not the problem. The message limit per folder is something like 32,000.
Whatever was the problem is still lurking in the wings.

OK, but the problem has not reoccurred and all I did was to delete a few
hundred messages. Maybe this is indicative of the medicine man doing a chant
to ward of evil spirits. If no spirits appear, then the chant must be
working! :)

However, if this problem does come back, then so will I. Thanks again.
