sending web pages and links

Grateful if anyone can explain how to send web pages and links, so simple on
Firefox and IE in XP days, on Windows Mail. Every time I try I get an error
message saying my email client wasn't installed properly, or some message to
that effect. I hope everyone's Vista experience is better than mine. Regards

Start | Default Programs
Make sure Windows Mail has all its defaults.

It would be helpful if you stated which email client program you are using.
If that is Windows Mail, do the following:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows
Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Thanks Gary. Site was "busy" and thrashed my original reply, which I'll try
again here. I was talking about Windows Mail. I got similar advice from
another poster and thanks to Frank for that) and just tried that suggestion.
I discovered all 3 defaults selected, and further discovered that I cannot
un-select them, which is a bit worrying. Yet, still, when I go to the pages
menu on the Explorer browser to select send pages or links, those options are
still grayed out. Thanks for trying.

Control Panel | Programs | Make a file type always open in a specific
program (under Default Programs)
Scroll down to the bottom and make sure MAILTO is set to Windows Mail

Thanks for trying, Frank. I followed your advice as far as I could, scrolling
down the extensions and protocols list. But I couldn't locate MAILTO, and
asked a friend to doublecheck to see if I missed anything. No joy there,
making me wonder if an update has changed MAILTO to something else.

This may help to restore the missing MailTo protocol:
Open the Default Programs applet.
Click "Set program access and computer defaults."
Click Custom, and select Windows Mail.
Click OK.

Sorry to be a pain, but do you know if there is an Outlook-type text
highlight function in Windows Mail? I see how to change font, font color and
styles, etc, but I haven't located the standard highlight option which I use
a lot to indicate text changes in the course of my work.

I see the option to remember user name and password is no better in Vista
than it was in XP; I keep saying, yes, pls remember both, and it promptly
forgets my password, and then asks me again if I want systen to remember it
-- a big reason I switched to Firefox from IE for most browsing lobg ago.

Anyway, grateful for any highlight advice.

and can find a font 't fin

I am not aware of any such feature in Windows Mail.
Windows Mail is a very basic mail client, and as such it won't have
all the features that Outlook has.

Failure to remember passwords is usually caused by running a non-
compatible antivirus. It has never happened to me.
