sending emails etc from websites

hello
please help.

I have a hotmail account. I am trying to send emails through websites - ie,
contact them through their webpages, but keep getting told Vista can not
support hotmail. I followed the "other options" link and got windows live
hotmail - but it still didn't work - every time i try to complete the email
address section to set up the email default it takes me in circles back to
the windows live site. (i only got this computer and vista a few days ago and
am setting up) . I then read some of the postings here and followed a link to
windows live beta and did that but am still having the same problem - my
email address is still a hotmail account and still not being accepted.
Can some one please help me in step by step instructions.. i am getting very
confused and frustrated. Imagine i know nothing about computers in your
explaination and i might just get through this!!
Thank you sooo much

By "Windows Live beta" do you mean the Windows Live Mail (WLM) beta?

Anyway, it works for me. I set my Hotmail account as the default in WLM,
then clicked on a mailto link on a web page, and it popped up the
message compose window in WLM with my Hotmail email address
pre-populated in the 'From' field. I have no idea why this does not
work for you.
