Bill,
Most likely due to this key (I think)
[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Clients\Mail]
@="Netscape"
BTW, do you still have Netscape installed?

Ramesh,
Here are the contents of the registry keys I deleted:
[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Fil
eExts\.MAPIMail]
[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Fil
eExts\.MAPIMail\OpenWithList]
"a"="NOTEPAD.EXE"
"MRUList"="a"
[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Fil
eExts\.MAPIMail\OpenWithProgids]
"CLSID\\{9E56BE60-C50F-11CF-9A2C-00A0C90A90CE}"=hex(0):
[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Clients\Mail]
@="Netscape"
Any idea where those keys came from? You were right on target when
you suggested I look for those keys.

Bill,
You're very welcome. BTW, can you post the REG contents here? (just
curious)

Thanks Kelly and Ramesh!
Deleting these registry keys fixed the problem! I am most appreciative!
Keep up the good work in the MS newsgroups!
Bill
In addition:
Please export these registry keys to a REG file, and delete them:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Clients\Mail
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\File
Ext
s\.MAPIMail
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Classes\.MAPIMail (if exists)

Kelly,
Thanks for your suggestions! I tried the three commands, but it did not
help...also tried the OE Reset (Line64) fixes, but still no go.
Any more ideas? Thanks in advance!
