send to mail recipient broke

B

Bill Eversole

Hi,

The "send to mail recipient" function no longer works. Absolutely nothing
happens. I have experimented with different email clients (eg, Outlook, OE,
Hotmail), but it makes no difference. Also checked for existence of Mail
Recipient mapimail file in sendto folder--OK. I have found out that the
function DOES work when I create a new user account.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Kelly,

Thanks for your suggestions! I tried the three commands, but it did not
help...also tried the OE Reset (Line64) fixes, but still no go.

Any more ideas? Thanks in advance!

Most welcome, Bill. See if this helps:

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then go to:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Ramesh,

Here are the contents of the registry keys I deleted:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.MAPIMail]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.MAPIMail\OpenWithList]
"a"="NOTEPAD.EXE"
"MRUList"="a"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.MAPIMail\OpenWithProgids]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\Mail]

Any idea where those keys came from? You were right on target when
you suggested I look for those keys.

Bill,

Most likely due to this key (I think)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\Mail]
@="Netscape"

BTW, do you still have Netscape installed?

Yes, I still have Netscape 7.1 installed. My wife uses Netscape for
her mail. I use Outlook XP. Thanks.
