"Send to Datebase" grayed out

Stephen

Hi,

I'm trying to use Frontpage to create a database. Help
says that in "Page" view (I'm not sure what page view is
but I'm assuming it is the "Design" tab, as it does
render "Form Properties), click on Form Properties and
then click on "Send to database." But "Send to Database"
is grayed out.

Does anyone know how I can rectify this?

Thanks a lot,

Stephen

In order to Send to DB, make sure you have a server based web (not a disc based web) open, and in Tools Page Options Authoring you
have selected the FP SE

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

I went into Page Options, and tried about every Authoring
variation. I've ended up with Frontpage and Sharepoint
technologies: "Complete" and Brower: MicrosoftInternet
Explorer Only and Browser versions "5.0/6.0 browsers or
later" and Scheme Version is "Internet Explorer 5.0." But
as I mentioned, in every combination, the "Send to
database" is still grayed out.

If it matters, under Form Properties, in "Send to Other,"
I have "Custom ISAPI, NASPI,CGI, or ASP Script." If that
matters.

Again, thanks for your help.

Take care,

Stephen

How are you opening your web / site in FP, via c:\... or http://localhost ?

And do you have ASP / VBScript enabled under Page Options ?

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

I don't open it http://localhost?, as I don't know how, so
that may be the problem. I just open FP and it asks for
User Name and Password and I go straight into the
website.

In Authoring under Page Options, VBScript is checked.
ActiveX controls is grayed out and JavaScript/Jscript is
grayed out. I couldn't find ASP. Under what tab is it?

Thanks again for your help.

Take care,

Stephen

All on Authoring Tab.
ASP = Active Server Pages
To "ungrey" JavaScript and Active X uncheck Sharepoint Services. A
Sharepoint site requires ActiveX and JavaScript.

Hi,

Again, thanks for your help.

Okay, I unchecked Sharepoint Services and JavaScript and
ActiveX is no longer grayed out but I still haven't been
able to ungray "Send to Database" and it is a database
that I am trying to set up.

Am I supposed to go onto some other "web server" other
than my regular website on my regular host server. Or, if
my regular host server is okay, does anyone know if I
should be going onto my regular host server by some other
means than by clicking on "My Network Places" and then
(after clicking okay to the User name and Password)onto my
actual website (i.e. stockmasters.net--the form I want to
create that hopefully will connect to a database is
actually at http://www.stockmasters.net/test/form.htm).

If anyone knows if I am supposed to be going onto any
other web server, could they please try to tell me what it
is.

Again, thanks for all your help.

Take care,

Stephen

According to http://www.whois.sc/stockmasters.net you are on an Apache Unix server
- check w/ your host if they support ANY database (like MySql)
- definitely not Access on a Unix server

Hi,

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, my host server supports MySQL but not Access. Does
that appear to be the problem? Does FP2003 only support
Access?

Yes, unless the host support ASP as well, which is how FP writes the connections, etc.

Normally you would work with PHP and MySQL on a non Windows IIS server.
