Send/Receive Error

When I click on Send/Receive, I get an error "Some errors occured while
processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for
more details". No errors appear below. If I click on receive messages, they
receive ust fine and I'm not having any problems sending either.
Any input as to how to resolve this error or reinstall Windows Mail without
reinstalling Vista or losing my mail data?

This problem is often caused by interference from your
antivirus program. Windows Mail is not compatible with most
McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download and
install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If this does not solve all of your WM problems, I recommend that
you upgrade to Windows Live Mail. It will automatically import
your WM accounts, settings, and emails.

No it doesn't! I didn't ask what other program I could use, I asked how to
resolve this problem in Windows Mail...

Touchy!

Follow the money...

What have M$ technical support have to say for themselves?

Same old "song & dance", call HP and HP says call MS.
Quick question... If I download and use this Windows Live Mail will it
automatically import all my data from WM? What will it not do for me and
leave me pissed?

WLM will automatically adopt your WM account settings
and then you simply import your WM data using the
File > Import > Messages function.

What will it not do for me and leave me pissed?

It won't go to the bar and buy you a drink!
Well... maybe a coke or 7up!

Funny guy Julian...
Thanks though for the response. Will it simply upgrade WM or will I then
have both programs available to me and need to delete WM?

Yeah welll... in the UK pissed means drunk.

It removes the WM shortcuts but leaves the software in place.
You will have both programs available and it is neither necessary
or desirable to remove WM since it is a part of the OS.
Just ignore it or perhaps keep trying to get it to work
but with WLM as a workaround. You can use WM and WLM
simultaneously if you set one to leave messages on the server.

Run Thunderbird along side too if you wish.

I predict that if you try WLM you'll get to like it
more than WM and stick with it.

I tried it when it was first released and I'd never go back to WM.

If your car is totaled, do you still insist hat it be repaired?
There are no Microsoft-approved fixes for the Windows Mail bugs.

I like this guy Julian... If he was in the states he'd be a riot to go out
for drinks with.
Thanks for the on point responses Julian. What is Thunderbird though and how
do I get it?

Gary,
As for my car being totaled, I'd first need to know what it would take to
repair it in order to arrive logically at the conclusion of "it's totaled".

What exactly would it do for me that WLM won't?
I just downloaded and installed WLM and it automatically transfered
everything except my contacts. I simply imported my contacts manually and
I'm checking it out now.

It can be also caused by a Anti Spam or Anti Phising program. You might want to try and disable those if you have any one of them and test

Not much, less if you want to combine and decode binaries.

Some like the slicker facade and others like to wallow smugly
in politically correct anti-M$ism that Mozilla stuff affords.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot, mission critical stuff like emoticons!

I'd be sorely tempted to use it myself if it could handle newsgroup
crossposts properly, ie. once read in one group the message marked
read in all groups, which for me is the killer function that WM and WLM
provide.

Last time I tried Thunderbird it would not import anything
from WM or WLM.
