send buttons missing?

Hello,

I have several clients that have their send buttons missing when trying to
reply to an email. Also, when users try to send mail as an attachment from
word or excel for example, the send buttons and all the toolbar is missing.
I have gone through the newsgroups and found a couple of solutions in regards
to choosing the right HTML editor in Internet Explorer or choosing the
correct file association type in Windows Explorer. None of these options
helped. This problem is only effecting my users with Outlook 98 or 2000. Any
ideas on how to correct this?

Thanks,
Lina

Try resetting the toolbars by renaming outcmd.dat to .old.

Try resetting the toolbars by renaming outcmd.dat to .old.

I have this problem with Outlook 2000 where the Send/Receive button is
missing and the Send button is missing in the Compose window. The file
outcmd.dat does not exist on the computer. I have done a full
uninstall and reinstall of the MS Office suite and also a Detect and
Repair. Any suggestions please.

The Forward button is missing also.

I have reset the toolbar, searched through every other available
toolbar but none of these buttons are available.

Sounds like there is no account configured. Use Control Panel-> Mail to set
one up.
Note that the outcmd.dat file can only be founds when you enable to seach in
hidden files and folders.

I found this solution in Google Groups and it worked.

This file does not exist whether files are hidden or not. It does not
exist on several other computers I manage. Perhaps Office 2000 Pro
does not use it?

Open Windows Explorer and enter %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook in the Address
bar. Click Go. Do you see it there? Outlook 2000 certainly does use it.

That could be the SRS file or another profile-specific file. You have "Hide
extensions for known file types" enabled so you can't see the extension.

It is a .fav file.

The point remains, there is no outcmd.dat file on our computers.

It's been a long time since I used OL 2000 with any regularity.
Nonetheless, Outlook 2000 will create one given the correct circumstance. I
don't understand why you wouldn't have it, though, since it contains the
button information. Perhaps someone else can explain it.
