SEEK: app to find all files with multimedia/audio extension

Is there a file find utility which will find all files which have known
multimedia extension (or just known audio extensions)?

This would be more useful than me having to key in all the extensions as
possible file types to search for.

For example:
WMV, AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, AIF, QT, etc.
WMA, MP3, FLA, OGG, WAV, CDA, etc.

Utility to find multiple file extensions at the same time;

Locate32 http://locate32.webhop.org

can do this. Make sure you get a recent version (check the "daily
releases" section).

I have 3.0 beta 5.10100 which I believe is the latest. I read the
search info in README.TXT.

Exactly what entries are you using in Locate32 to find multiple
extensions?

(1) Using the "Name and Location" tab:
in "Named I put an asterisk (or nothing)
in "Extensions" I put "wma" [without the quotes]
(2) I set the search to look "Everywhere".
(3) When I press "Find Now" I get lots of hits.

(4a) If I change "wma" to "wma|mp3", I get no hits.
(4b) If I change "wma" to "wma,mp3", I get no hits.
(4c) If I change "wma" to "wma;mp3", I get no hits.
(4d) If I change "wma" to the regex ":wma|mp3", I get no hits.

Any ideas?

Then...just find a list of all the extension somewhere on the
net...then search for them on your computer....its not too long you
know....its shorter than waiting for an answer here 8)

I know what you mean. Heh! But this is a recurring requirement and I
hope I can am able to automate later searches.

I suppose I could use one of the desktop search index apps like "Yahoo!
Desktop Search" and select the "Music" type button for audio. YDS
doesn't seem to define audio-visual as a separate category.

And desktop search does seem like overkill for what should be a simple
search!

Agent Ransack (www.agentransack.com) can do that, and it can save the
criteria for future use. No on-line search, just a program on the hard
disk!

Enter in the file name field the extensions of the files you want to
search for: *.mp3; *.wav; *.mpeg; *.avi or whatever, separated by a
semicolon; test it and then save the criteria to an SRF file. Make a
shortcut to it on your desktop and your search is ready for you any
moment you want it.
