Security Problem/Trojan Horse

I believe my computer has been compromised. Even though I
use anti-virus software which I keep up-to-date and always
download my Windows critical/security updates, I am having
a problem with my system that may possibly be the result of
a Trojan horse or virus. I can no longer run defrag or
chkdsk /r without getting a blue screen and stop error code
as follows:
Am getting the following error/blue screen while running
either Chkdsk or defrag

*** STOP error code 0x000000D1 (0x00000014, 0x00000002,
0x00000000, 0xF999E0F8)
*** IdeChnDr.sys - Address F999E0F8 base at F999B000,
Datestamp 3bd89c65

DELL COMPUTERS who is supposed to provide my support since
I purchased my Windows XP from them with my computer have
not been any help at all. Can anyone who is very
knowledgeable about this kind of thing help me? You can
e-mail me at (e-mail address removed)

Dell?

Turn off your computer.
Turn it back on.. As soon as you turn it back on, hold down the CTRL+ALT
keys and tap the D key rythmically until the disk test begins.

I say to do this because the first thing I noticed was the "IDECHNDR.SYS"
you mentioned in the error (IDE Channel Driver <- Likely) -> So possible
problems with the driver itself (See if Dell has updated drivers for your
controller/motherboard chipset or possibly even a BIOS upgrade.) or with the
cabling or the motherboard or the drive itself.

Dell should be able to walk you through running diagnostics to discover the
source of the trouble.
