I've downloaded the Windows XP blasterworm and saved it to
my system but everytime I try to open it an error message
comes up that says the WindowsXP file is linked to missing
export NTDLL.DLL:Ntshutdownsystem & A DEVICE ATTACHED TO
THE SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING. Can anybody throw some
light on this please as I've received an e-mail that I
think has got the virus.

Hi. I hope my response is of some help....I had the
W32blasterworm in my computer also and became very
frustrated when trying to remove it....I couldn't even
download the remedy without that shut down window coming
on....I finally called e-machines (that took several days
to do I might add...couldn't get through)...here is what
helped me...(by the way, when I downloaded the patch
initially, it said, "no virus found", but I did have it)
here's what I had to do to complete the process:
If at anytime the window opens stating the "NT
shutdown..." immediately click
on "start"...then "run"...type in "shutdown (space bar) ,
type the symbol for minus and then lower case "a"...then
click "OK" and you should be able to complete the process
and get that nuisance out of your puter! good luck. I
hope I understood your question....

Hi Teri

Tried your suggestion a number of times but no success.
It's annoying that we have to resort to finding help this
way cos if these downloads come from Microsoft you'd think
they work first time!

Thanks for your help anyway.

Dave
