security issue on lan

I am new to access and am currently using access97. I created a db and it is
on a network drive. I went into security tools and created 5 users with a
password. In the user group I set up the permission for this group. When I
open up this db on my computer I have to use one of the passwords and user id
to log in. When I went to another computer I was able to log in and there was
no security. What am I doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I planned on splitting the db manually since I thought it was already secured.

You did not secure your database. You did one or two steps, but there are
about 20 steps in securing a database.

I have attached several resources. Make sure to read them thoroughly, make
a backup of your database, then dive in.
