Security Center

I haven't figured this out yet. I'm running a XP machine in a Windows 2003
domain. Since installing SP2 I'm receiving an informational event in my
applications event viewer. The error is an 1807, and the error reads that
"The Security Center service has been stopped. It was prevented from
running by a software group policy." I've looked through my domain policies
and haven't seen anything obvious. Any comments or suggestions?

You might want to direct this question to your system or domain
administrator. There is obviously an entry somewhere in gpedit that limits
or restricts the execution of the security center app.

Bobby:

Thanks for the suggestion. Problem is I am the administrator. I've been
through the domain policies, as I noted, and have found nothing there that
looks like it would prevent that service from running. I haven't really
even modified the default domain policies out of the box as this is a
testbed domain at my home that I use to experiment on. But I have done
nothing to the polices for the domain. Any other ideas?

Marish;

Found it under services.msc. There is an entry to make adjustments for the
startup parameters. It's dependencies are RPC and WMI. The initialization
string and entry in the Registry is

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

so you may be able to modify that, also

Hope this helps.
