sector zero corruption needs help

I installed win2k after XP, and now only win2k boots, even after
installing the Acronis boot software. When I use Acronis True image
boot disk (I want to restore a previous image of the XP partition), I
get messages like "True Image has not found any disk drives" and
"Failed to read sector 0 of the hard disk 0". The only way I can boot
to XP is from a boot CD, but after I boot I can use all the partitions
on the drive and everything behaves normally.

Is there a fix to rebuild sector zero so that boot is normal and True
Image can read sector zero? fixmbr?

Switch you booting to something that works like Grub? It can boot
both XP and y2k...
