Secondary Hard drive info

In my old computer I had two seperate physical hard drives. The main drive I
used for all of my programs. The secondary drive I used for all of my
pictures, music, etc. I ended up buying a new motherboard and some other new
parts, so I had to format my main drive, which is no big deal. Now i have my
secondary drive which I cant retrieve any of the information off of. The
device manager can see the drive, but I cant access it. I ran the WD
diagnostics utility, and it wants to format the drive. I really need some of
the information off of the secondary drive before I reformat it. Is there
anyway i can do this?

Thanks ~~ Scott

Did you format the primary drive in FAT32 ?
Is your second drive formatted NTFS ?
If so, the Fat32 drive cannot read the second drive formatted in NTFS.
You need to format the primary drive NTFS also.

What happens when you try? If you get an "access denied" error message,
you just need to take ownership of the files. See:

If this doesn't help, then please post back with the text of any error
messages. Also, please check your jumpering on both drives just to be
sure you did this correctly.

Both drives should be in NFTS format. The jumpers are in the correct
position also. I dont get any error messages because i cant even access the
drive from my computer

No, the bios should be set to auto detect (hd's)
Was the data hd previously prepared with any other than winxp format tools?
eg tools supplied by the hd manu?
What does Disk Management show for the drive?, assuming thats not what you
meant by Device Manager.
