Hi all,
I'm new on this group and I'd like to ask you a few question.

I actually have a 17" CRT monitor, but it's very dark. It's maybe a
litte bit old now... When I play Doom 3, with luminosity in game an in
CRT at max, I almost can't see anything if there is light in the room,
it's very annoying. So I'd like to change. But... I don't know if I
should take a CRT or a LDC.

I'me using this computer principally for developpement, a little bit for
webdesign and games. I'd like to take a 17" monitor, with a resolution
of 1280*1024.

My question first question is: what type is the best (the price and bulk
isn't very important... for now)

I don't know what parameters are importants for both technologies, so my
second questio is can anybody give me advices or website adresses ? it
would be very kind.

Thanks a lot !

I'm also in the market for a new monitor. I've decided on the IIyama E430
which I think is basically the IIyama E431S without DVI and speakers. I've
seen m fair few good reviews regarding the E431.

If you are going to play games you'll want a TFT with at most 20ms Response
Time. The above Iilyamas' have 16ms.

I would recommend a TFT as they produce less eye strain, are aesthetically
pleasing and the new models also work well with games.

Good luck

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your advice...

Hum.. I've read than DVI gets a better image quality than VGA... Isn't
it true or it it true only for pro graphists ?

Response time is the only thing I know about TFT properties... But
what's about Contrast and Brightness ? I'd like buy something
multi-purpose...

If you want excellent display with truest colors, best graphics and
best text, stick with CRT. Not only is it the best bang for the buck,
it's the best bang period! IMHO, LCD pluses are limited to size,
weight and appearance. If you have room for it, you might like a 19"
better than a 17" though. There's not much difference in price.

Thanks you.
What do you mean by IMHO (I'm not english) ?

I think my choice isn't done, yet...

About CRT, what are important properties (I mean Scanning, etc.)
