"Search Now" Trojan

J

JJS`

I have a problem where a trojan code is "hijacking"
various web pages I visit and highlighting certain words
(i.e. computers, games, etc.) and creating hotlinks. When
I click on these links I'm taken to a website
called "search now".

I am up to date on security pages and virus definitions
but I cannot seem to rid my system of this pest.

Any suggestions?

Spyware Alert!

Download and run "Hijack This", instructions and additional
information here: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

I've noticed a few posts about this here, but so far nothing that will help.
One example is on my _own_ blog, I noticed the word "games" as a link when I did
not put it in the HTML nor does it appear when you call up the source inthe
browser; yes, there is a link, and it points to http://go-acct.com/?go=games.
If I actually follow the link, it goes to
http://www.runsearch.com/top/go.php?qq=games.

Whatever this is, it is slowing down IE. When I open a new browser window and
type in address it takes a while for the page to actually load--although I have
a cable connection it now takes about as long to load a page as it would if I
were connected using my 56K modem.

How do I block anything having to do with runsearch.com and go-acct.com? I've
deleted literally every cookie in my hard drive, I've deleted certificates, I've
tweaked the browser left & right. I've run Spybot. I've done everything but
throw the computer out of the window in frustration.
