Search in Outlook for a Subject

If using the search function under Outlook 2007 and the criteria used is
subject and I want to search for erf 1234, I am only getting a result if the
1234 is standing alone. If for instance the subject is Erf1234, typed
together, I am getting no results found. Accordingly the search function
under Outlook is quite unreliable. I am looking at the e-mail meanwhile the
search function says “no matches foundâ€.

How can I change the search criteria to part of a word. Maybe someone else
is equally experiencing this problem, or maybe there is already a fix to this
problem.

Appreciating your assistance.

AFAIK there are no settings to do this.
Search Options are in Tools | Options | Preferences tab.
You might try a 3rd party search tool as an alternative.
