Search from the address bar

I can no longer search from the address bar. When I
enter a search item such as "dog", it says the page
cannot be displayed and show this in the address
bar: "http:///? dog". I have checked my internet
settings and the button for searching in the address bar
is checked. Ideas please?

The 3 slashes (///) usually indicate a Coolwebsearch infection (trojan)
