search form problem

Kenneth

I have used the built in template to set up a search form
in FP 2002, recalculated hyperlinks, and then published to
my web host server (Windows server running IIS). Problem
is that when I attempt to search for any word, I get
a "page not found" for page
www.hrtbrkr.com/_derived/nortbot.htm

Is there something wrong with the publish process that is
leaving this page out? What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks,

Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,
Your problem is that the nortbot.htm file does not exist
on your server. Make sure you upload a copy to the server
for your search form to work, and one more thing, why do
you have two search forms on the same page???, check that
too.

Good luck!

nortbot.htm is an error page which says:

"You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web
server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.
"This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish
this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions
installed."

and is usually produced by FP webbots, such as form processing or the FP
search, when the page containing the webbot has either:

No working FP extensions on the web when the page was uploaded.
Page uploaded by FTP instead of by HTTP publishing

There maybe other causes for this page appearance I am not aware of..

It may be possible to fix by opening the live web in FrontPage, and Tools -
Recalculate Hyperlinks

I guess I did not ask my question very well there....I
have tried manually uploading the nortbot.htm file to the
web server, and that allows me to get the following:

"You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page
that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server
Extensions to function properly. "This form or other
FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish
this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed."

So knowing that, I have two questions. One, why am I
having to manually FTP this nortbot.htm file up to the
server, shouldnt it be published along with all other
files? And two, even with this file uploaded to the
server, my search is still failing, the only difference
being that the message above is shown.

Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s. --- I had two search forms on that page due to me
trying to insert a new search form instead of using the
one that was built in by the wizard...just forgot to
delete the extra form.

FTP has broken your FP Server Extensions
Have your host repair or reapply the FP SE, then always use File Publish web and enter your url as
http://www.hrtbrkr.com/

After publishing use File Open web http://www.hrtbrkr.com/ and log in, run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks and View Reports
Problems - component errors
If you for is being emailed have your host enable Email transport

Recalculate your hyperlinks and if that doesn't work,
contact the people you host with and have them do a
repair on your frontpage extentions. That is what a
fellow suggested to me and it worked.
