SD Card Problem

I have a 1GB SD card, about 1/3 full that will not allow me to add any more
files to it. (Mainly jpg type) It will not allow me to make a new folder.
I get the error message "The file or Directory cannot be created" Is
there a max number of files limit on these?? TIA

In all version of windows (and since DOS) there has been a limit on the
number of items that can be in the root of a drive (c:\). I (mis?)remember a
limit of 256 or 128 if compatible (8.3) names are functioning. The exact
limit may be different but yes there is a fairly small limit.
Get rid of a couple of your files, create a folder and move the rest into
that folder.

I had that problem. I took it to my local Radio Shack (where I bought
it from). It was formatted in FAT32. They reformatted it in NTFS and
I can use all two gigs.

Am using XP

When I look at the properties, I see the full 1 GB. I also counted the
number of files @ 387. I thought it might be limited to 256, but apparently
not.

Sorry. My SD card is a 2GB SanDisk. I did get the same error message
before RS reformatted it. Don't know what to say.

How do you use this SD card? If you use this card in any digital
camera, then you will have a problem with it when formatted outside of
the camera. Most cameras require the SD card to be formated FAT.

This card is used in a digital photo frame (Kodak) in the kitchen so the
wife can look at the grandkids. :0)

How do the photos get onto the card? Do you use a digital camera to
take the pics or do you just transfer them onto the card with a PC?

If you use a digital camera, you should read the camera's user guide /
manual. Most of the time, if not always, the recommendation is to
format these SD cards with the camera.

jpg files were accumulated on a thumb drive that was passed around the
family in which they loaded up their favorite files. I then d/l them into
my computer and transfered them to the SD card via a USB/SD card reader.
The jpg's all came from various digital camera brands to individual
computers, 1 MAC, 2 PC's onto my PC. I did remove 3 unknown files
....trash, ???trash, and ??v-100 which when I researched them were MAC
files on the SD. I have a backup folder on my PC and was thinking of
reformating the SD card and try a re-load but have not got that drastic so
far. As of right now, the SD card in question will remain with the Digital
Frame. The Digital frame has the capability to accept as an iput source,
SD cards, a thumb drive and a USB/PC connection. Menu on the frame allows
you to select the source for the slide show,

Ah, good point. I am using my reformatted SD card in my Pocket PC and
in Windows XP.
