Problem with 1GB SD Card

Why Tea

I have problem writing to a 1GB SD card on my notebook, does anyone
know what is the problem?

System:
- Toshiba Tecra A3/S2
- card reader built-in
(Microsoft Driver ver: 6.0.4069.1, Date: 10/10/2002)
- Windows XP SP2

Problem:
- Able to copy for a little while then it fails to proceed further
and shows errors

Others:
- the SD card was reformatted successfully
- this cannot be a faulty SD card as I have returned the
the first one and the second one is showing the same
problem

Will appreciate any help and suggestion.

You may need to upgrade the card reader drivers. Originally, SD cards were
never designed to have such high capacities (so the readers did not have
this capability either). Now that such large SD cards are out, some readers
have had software updates so that they could read higher capacity SD
cards...

Thanks Jason, I did that by trying to upgrade the SD controller driver,
but Windows found nothing. Tried Google and found nothing too. Could
you please tell me where to look for one? Thanks.

It'd be specific for your flash card reader. My best suggestion would be
the laptop manufacturer or google the manufacturer of the flash card reader
if you know who it is.

I did all that at Toshiba site and with Google, but found nothing.
That's frustrating. As you can see from my first post, the driver is a
generic driver from Microsoft.

If the only drivers needed are the generic Windows drivers, you may be out
of luck.

What reader is it? Do you have the hardware id for it (it'd be under the
device manager entry of the smart card reader, in the details tab, on the
selection 'hardware id'.

It's "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller".

Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8034&SUBSYS_FF011179&REV_00
