SCSI DAT drive problems

I got this scsi dat drive HP C1537A, i installed it, so i
think.
I haven't changed any setting for SCSI ID, i installed the
drivers, it seems ok in Device Manager, but when i use HP
library & tape tools, the drive is crossed in red, which
it means i can't update the firmware.
I used the software that came with it , Tapeware from
yosemite, it seems OK except but i can't backup the
information store,
If i try to use NTBackup the drive is not listed in the
devices.
How should i setup this drive to have it fully functional?

Since when does XP has an Information Store? You must be talking Exchange on Server 2003..

1. Lookup the transfer rate for the tape drive interface, set the SCSI bios to match it for that SCSI-I
2. Ensure that you have Removable Storage enabled and workin
3. Make sure that you have compatable tapes (do not run DDS4 tapes in a DDS3 drive
4. Make sure that the current tape (media) is shown as availabl

HP TapeTools is an excellent tool for testing your drive. I've found that is also possible to NOT have a working configuration in Windows yet it will function perfectly for TapeTools. This is something that you just have to fiddle with until you get it right, copious notes to help you keep track of your attempts and the settings you have already tried and in what combinations, etc.

The major thing is that you do NOT have a SCSI bios transfer rate selected that the tape hardware can not support. You access the SCSI bios via a CTRL-A right after POST. Transfer rates faster than the tape drive hardware can support will either be ignored, cause CRC problems on write/read, burn out the interface on the tape drive, or plain old just not work at all and give no indications or errors

Wish you luck
