DLT 40/80 Tape Drives

I have a Compaq 40/80 GB Tape drive, while the BIOS sees it on POST, Windows
XP ignores it completely. My SCSI controller is recognised, in both Windows
XP and boot. I have down loaded drivers from HP, although HP HCL states that
the drive is support by Windows XP.

Does anyone know why I can't see this Tape unit?

Thanks

Were you to start Windows Backup or any other backup utility that recognised
tape drives, you would find that your tape drive is available and working..
however, tape drives do NOT show up in the list of drives.. they are only
accessible through backup/recover programs..

Also can be seen through Compmgmt.msc -> Removable Storage.

Since I posted my previous msg, I have rebuilt pc from scratch, DLT is now
visbile, but XP thinks there are 7 units attached.

LOL.. why don't you get a DVD-RW unit?.. they take up no more space, and are
easily accessible.. in Canada, they can be purchased for $49.. the DVD media
is way cheaper than DAT tapes..
