Guest

Hi need a little help. I am running vista ultimate. Right now im using a
Logitech wireless desktop.Cant use the software because it freezes computer
and have to restore to earlier point. So it works ok without the software and
so does screensavers. I also have a Microsoft wireless desktop laser 6000,
that I can use software on. Only problem there is screensavers dont work. I
would like to use the Microsft desktop if I can. Would like to know if anyone
knows a solution to this problem. Thanks for the help and enjoy the week.
Sorry for the long post.

I used to have the same problem with XP when using a wireless keyboard and
mouse and found the only way around it was as the following
Hello. If you are using a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard/Mouse, do the
following:

1. Hit START, RUN, Msconfig and press ENTER.
2. When the System Configuration Utility is displayed, click on the
STARTUP
tab.
3. Uncheck the entry next to "EHTRAY.EXE.
4. Apply the change.
5. Restart you Computer.
6. Your Screensaver wll now work.]This is regular problem if you use a
microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard
and the Media 05...most forums have reported it. There isnt a fix as
yet but a couple of ways around it

Have a read of this http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;911895

On mine if I go to msconfig/startup and untick "ehtray" my screensaver will
work until I start the media centre 2005

I was having the same problem and was told to go to the Microsoft Download
Site and to download the following.
HID NON-USER INPUT DATA FILTER.
I did that and my screensaver has been working great ever since.

Am I the only person unable to download this HID non-user......???
I've been reading all this advice for a few days now and thanks to some kind
people's posts, discovered it is my new wireless microsoft mouse and keyboard
causing my screensaver probs. My computer is new and I do auto updates daily
so it tells me my updates are up to date...obviously. When I search using the
words HID non-user input data filter it finds nothing with any of the those
words. Can someone take me step by step how to find that download PLEASE.

Make sure that your Windows Update is also set to download Optional Updates.
(Change settings on the left of the Windows Update control panel).

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895

To resolve this issue, plug in a wireless receiver, and then check for
updates. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Windows Update Web site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Install the Optional Hardware Update that is named Microsoft HID Non-User
Input Data Filter
