Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 4000 will not work with
screensavers. The screensavers will not initialize. Also the media center
tray exe. seems to prevent this.

Software: Vista Ultimate OEM.
Hardware: Dell Inspiron E1705/9400

Do you have the latest Intellipoint software installed?

I am using the same mouse with my notebook. I have no problems with
screensavers both with or without the Intellipoint software but it wouldn't
hurt to try it. I suspect the problem has something to do with the ACPI
settings on your computer.

Yes I have the latest software installed. I've switched to a Targus mouse
with no problems. This is more of an irritant than a serious problem but
other systems may have the same problem. Thank you for your help.

It would be interesting to find out what caused the problem. Is the Targus
mouse wireless?

Yes it is and plugged into the same usb port.

It's got to be a driver problem then.
