Screensaver photo order

I love having my pix show up in random order using the My Pictures
screensaver. However, there are some folders in My Pictures that appear to
never make it into the order. It always starts at the same place I think. I'm
wondering if anyone can tell me about the algorithm or procedure it uses that
might me make sure it's working as best it can. For example, why might some
folders in My Pictures never get candidate pictures in the random order?

Thanks for the suggestion. I love the "shuffle" feature. However, how can i
get it to stop the panning and zooming entirely. I'd just rather see the
whole picture than have it zoom in or out. Is this possible?

I am surprised you *dont* want the pan zoom feature... !!!

Nevertheless here is a reg file inside a zip file consisting of the settings
to disable pan zoom. Extract and double click the .reg file.

what do you mean "here" is a reg file. I don't see anything attached to this
response, and I went to your website and don't see anything there either....

BTW, the reason I don't lke the pan zoom is that the pictures always start
somewhere random in the middle of the picture (like somebody's bellybutton),
and by the time it transitions, you've still never seen really what the
picture was about. I tried messing with the advanced choices so that at least
at the beginning or end you saw the whole picture, but usually you never did.

Well my message did have an attachment!!!

Copy paste the following into notepad and save as something.reg. Now double
click the .reg file to enter the settings into the registry.

Hello,

I'm not sure about the exact details of the algorithm used to pick pictures
to display. I can say that all subfolders of the parent folder chosen in
the My Pictures screensaver settings, should be included though. First, I
would make sure that the pictures in that folder can be displayed in the
screensaver. Just set the path in the screensaver settings to the
questionable folder. If they display, make sure they're in a subfolder of
the main folder you're setting the path to in the settings. You can also
check "show filenames" so you can see the path and filename of the pictures
as they are displayed.

Thanks,
Gregg Rivers [MSFT]
