Screensaver Does Not Work

I cannot get the screensaver in Vista to work. I set it up to start after 5
minutes but nothing happens. I've tried different ones, like bubbles and
aurora, but it won't turn on.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Michael.

The screensaver won't start counting the 5 minutes until after the last
keypress, mouse action or other activity. Some programs update the screen
in such a way that the count has to start over before the 5 minutes is up.
So you must be sure that nothing is running in the background that will keep
the timer from reaching the limit you have set.

Have you tried clicking the Preview button to be sure that Bubble works on
your computer?

Try what I copied below. Sorry I don't remember the MVP that gave it to me:

I posted in a Vista newsgroup about my Screen Savers not coming on in Vista.
An MPV answered and told me that a Windows Update fixes it.

So, I went to my Windows Updates and it showed three updates available and
ready to install. I installed them. He said that one was "Microsoft - Other
Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter a Microsoft Other Hardware
software update released in January, 2007.

Sure enough that one fixed it and now my Screen Savers kick on.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem here with my laptop. I've tried everything
listed below, and nothing seems to fix it. I've previewed my screensaver
(Aurora), and it works when previewed. Mine is also set for 5 minutes. I can
walk away from my computer for 25 minutes, and come back. It'll still be
sitting on the same screen... a few minutes later, it DOES turn the monitor
off when it is supposed to, so i'm guessing the "timer" in question is
working, but why won't the scrensaver come on?

Quick update on my issue... i checked my screensaver settings, changed
scrensavers, then changed it back & applied it. the screensaver works now.
It's done this before though. I'll set it, and it'll work fine for a little
while, then suddenly it'll just stop working. This makes absolutely no sense
to me whatsoever. if it's working, it should stay working... right??
