Screen Size

I have a samsung 19" widescreen monitor which has worked perfectly with all
games (Call of Duty 4, BF 2 etc) up until i recently installed a product
from Cucusoft to convert AVI into DVDs.

Now the system boots up and plays games in a square 19" format and not
widescreen. The desktop however still fills the widescreen - as do all normal
programmes ?!

Is there a setting or something i can do to get my full screen filled again
for games and bootup ?

My Samsung monitor has no buttons on it to adjust anything!

Thanks

All the Samsung monitors I've seen (in fact, *all* the many monitors I've
seen) do have buttons to adjust settings. On my Samsungs they are on the
bottom of the lower monitor "frame".

However, since you pinpointed the start of the problem to when you installed
the Cucusoft program, the sensible thing to do would be to uninstall that
program and see if it helps. If it doesn't, you may even want to do a
System Restore to a time when things worked.

Another avenue to explore if you really want the Cucusoft program is to
contact their tech support to see if this is a known issue with their
program.

Hi Gents

thanks for the advice.

I have tried uninstalling the Cucsoft product, contacted their tech dept ,
they assured me there product should not impact on the screen, i tried
uninstalling the product - still the same.

Found the display buttons - never noticed them :) unfortunately they made no
difference.

Downloaded the latest nvidia drivers - no difference.

Its weird the screen is only a square during games and boot up, otherwise
its full width.

Try a System Restore to when things worked. If that doesn't help, your video
card may be failing. If you have a desktop computer, uninstall the card and
swap it out for a known-working one. If you don't have the ability to do
this, take the machine to a competent local professional. I don't recommend
using a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
