Screen Saver Problem

I use Windows 2000 Professional. Have had NO problems for 3 years until now!
Suddenly beginning today, both my Screen Saver and Monitor Power-Save Mode
do not work! The Screen Saver looks correct in its "preview" mode, but it
does not activate automatically, nor does the Monitor Power-Save feature
activate. I tried selecting a differenct Screen Saver and also changed the
time period (i.e., to "1 minute"). Nothing has worked. These all worked
great until TODAY! Pls. help.

All you need to do is figure out what's still "active". Something has
changed, and the system believes it's not "idle" anymore.

This follows up on my previous post: After 2 hours of trying to fix the
problem early this a.m., I gave up. When I powered up/booted up computer a
few hours later, all worked fine! Both the Screen Saver and Power Save
functions operated correctly! After 6 hours of computer use today, the exact
same problems RECURRED! I just returned to computer after a 3 hour absence,
and once again: both Screen Saver & Power Save did not take effect -- now I
have a burn-in on my LCD monitor. ADDENDUM: Simultaneous with this problem,
my MOUSE CURSOR flicker -- this is clearly connected with the Display
problems.... Please help!

Interesting! You might want to notify the LCD manufacturer about the
burn in on your monitor. They would be VERY interested to know about
THAT. It the meantime you will want to remove the malware from the computer.
