screen looses signal starting windows 2000

Hello

I use Windows 2000 on several PCs. On one, since today, I
the screen looses signal exactly at the same startup
position. I tried to repair the installation but get
always the same behaviour!

Any ideas?

Has the refresh rate been set higher than the monitor can deal with? What
happens when you press F8 at startup and boot into safe mode?

By the way, "loses" only has one "o".
