screen is smaller by 1 1/2 inches on each side

My system shut down do to a system error. When I rebooted my system - my
screen was 1 1/2 inches short on both sides (its black) How do I correct
this problem - so my window is on full screen? Its driving me crazy!

This is a combination of two things, one is the display resolution and the
other is on the monitor itself. Right-click on the desktop and choose
Properties, then Settings.

First, be sure that the correct display adapter and monitor are identified.
If not, check that the video driver is still properly installed. Then,
change the Screen Resolution appropriately. This will resize the image.

Second, press the buttons on the monitor itself to change the hoizontal
image size.

could be refresh rate and/or resolution.
check under advanced properties of display properties for the information and compare it to what your computer was set for.
