No longer getting full screen on laptop

For some reason I am no longer getting a full screen on my laptop. I have
black on both sides and the bottom of my screen. Nothing is cut off by the
black, everything is just smaller because of the smaller display area. Has
anyone ever seen this? Know how to correct this?

Could be because of lower resolution or wrong Refresh Rate? Try changing the
resolution through:

1. Right-click on Desktop choose Properties
2. Click Settings tab and change the resolution by dragging Screen
Resolution handler. E.g. if it is 640x480 then set it to 800x600.
3. If it is already set to 800x600 then try changing the Refresh Rate from
the same Settings tab. Click on the Advanced button. then click Adapter tab.
Click List All Modes button and try setting different resolution with
different refresh rate. E.g. 800x600 70Hz. This is the best refresh rate.

If something goes wrong while changing refresh rate and screen resolution
(like screen goes blank) then don't press any key. It will be back to
previous resolution after 15 secs.

Hope this information helps you, let us know!

Rajkohli, thanks for the help. I followed you advice. My laptop refresh rate
is already set to 1024 x 768 (32 bit) defautl refresh. I am guessing this is
higher than the 800 by 600 70hz you recommended? Let me know if I am wrong.

I also forgot to mention in my initial request for help that. My custom
desktop wall paper picture is no longer my wall paper. When I boot up, the
picture (my motorcycle) appears, when all the icons/folders come up my
desktop is just a plain gray background. Any ideas? Let me know if I should
still change my refresh from 1024 x 768 to 888 x 600. Thanks a ton in advance
for the help.

Try changing different resolutions with different refresh rate. E.g

1024x768 (32 bit) 70 Hz
800x600 (32 bit) 70 Hz

You said your monitor is already set to 1024x768 (32) Default Refresh. What
do you mean by default refresh rate? Further, can you see different refresh
rates in List All Modes?

Regarding your Wallpaper.

1. Right-click on Desktop choose Properties.
2. Click Desktop tab. In the Background list, check which wallpaper is
selected. Is it your Motor Bike. If yes, then click Customize Desktop and
then click Web tab.
3. Uncheck all Web pages from the list. Apply the changes. Log Off and Log
in again.

Let us know if this information helps you.

Shortcut key is: CTRL+SHIFT+UP ARROW KEY or CTRL+SHIFT+DOWN ARROW KEY

if that doesn't solve then change the resolution to 800x600 by :

right-click on desktop
choose properties
click settings tab
change the Screen Resolution.

Further, post your thread sepreately. Someone else may have good answer.

Hope this helps you let us know!
