I am setting up a Printer on a Win XP computer to accept
printer request from a Sco Server. The Printer is
physically attached to the LPT1 port on Win XP and I have
done quite a few stuffs to let it work like:
1) Making the Ethernet link with static IPs
2) Adding remote printer services for Unix on the XP
machine
3) Using "mkdev rlp" to make the Unix printer spooler.
4) Setting Print services to start automatic.
5) Adding the register entry with a
dword "StimulatePassThrought" with the value 1.
Now I am able to send print from Unix and it is spooled
on the Win XP machine. when I examine the print manager
but each time I send a print from unix the Print Manager
(on XP) says "spooling" and further reports an
error "Printer Busy or Error" and nothing ever get
printed. Also I can print from XP to this printer. I have
also checked the bios of the XP machine and set it to
standard for the lpt port and even add the printer as
generic. Have anyone set this up and it worked? If so
what am I doing wrong? need help on this badly.
