Scenarios "PTR" records are not important

Imagine on my Win2003 DNS internal zones I create an entry for a number of
"Virtual IP Addresses".

Do you see a need to create PTR records for these ? Any security implication
if make a PTR record available when I don't need it ?

Not usually, unless a SMTP server uses it and gets the wrong name on the
PTR.

I've seen in cases where Event ID 40961 errors are generated that a reverse
zone cures it.
