Scavenging settings - please help

Allie

I have a Win2k AD with 2 DCs, DNS on each DC, DHCP, dynamic dns updates,
etc. The subnet is 172.16.4.0 255.255.252. DHCP address is renewed every 8
days.

I have a Cisco vpn concentrator for remote access which has a DHCP pool for
connecting users that's in the same subnet (of course it does not overlap
the scope used by a Win2k DHCP server). The pool is 172.16.5.240 -
172.16.5.254.

The problem: I see same IPs associated with multiple host names because the
IP is returned to the pool on the vpn concentrator as soon as the client
disconnects. I don't think I should disable dynamic dns updates for these
hosts because they are a few days out of the office, than back in, or
connect from home at night.

What's the best way to configure scavenging/aging in this environment?
Globally scavenging on server - how many days? Then for forward and reverse
zone? I read the pertinent Microsoft article but it does not help me much -
it looks like my intervals would have to be very short. I don't want to
kill my server.

Help, explanation, suggestion, pointer to an article/site - all greatly
appreciated
