Got HP digital 3970, keeps asking for "usbscan.sys." on
service pack 1 ??????? Also keeps telling me USB port is
not highspeed??????? Where do I get usbscan, etc.

The usbscan.sys file is a Windows 32 File that apparently is installed by
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 [SP1]. If you do not have that Service
Pack already installed, go to Windows Update and get it to solve your
problem.
As to the other question, your scanner apparently is designed to function
best at USB 2.0 [high speed data transfer which is some 40 times faster than
the previous USB 1.1] and apparently your computer only has USB 1.1
capability. If this true, your machine will function but not at the rate it
would with USB 2.0.

First you must get more patience. Wait more than 13 minutes before
whining your problem out a second time. Impatience is not rewarded
here.
