Scanner and Camera Wizard

When I select the Wizard message "The computer cannot detect the Scanner or camera. ........click add Device"
On the Scanner and Camera installation Wizard I will select HP in the "Manufacturer" colum but in the "Model" colum only cameras are displayed - no scanner
I have a HP 6250c Scanner and had some problems with it. HP advised me on downloading new drivers, make changes in the registry and delete temp and other files. I suspect something was lost in this process
When I start with the HP Scanning Software (HP PrecisionScan Pro) the scanner works - although still with the same problems I had previously (system freeze after two scans)
How can I restore the Wizard plse

Assuming that you are using Windows XP, disconnect the
scanner while computer is turned OFF. Run the computer
and shut down. Plug the scanner into the computer and
boot up. The idea is to let plug + play detect the new
hardware and install. If that doesn't work, you may still
have the old drivers on your computer.

Thanks Rodger. I Have downloaded the latest software from
HP, followed the installation procedure as described by
you but plug + play does not pick up the new hardware!

Note that there are multiple downloads and updates for the Scanjet 6250c. These include the USB conectivity update, software\driver, and the precision scan update. I suggest that you remove all HP sofware and hardware from your OS and then download and install all of these programs and updates. There is even a diagnostic tool at the top. Once you have unistalled all HP Software\Hardware then reinstall the software and plug your devices back in and reboot. Here is the link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?product=58986&lang=en&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&os=22
