Saving window size when window is closed

I don't know why I can't find this anywhere (must be using the wrong
search terms today) but I know I have in the past seen a key combination

to hold down while closing a window so that the window size is
remembered and used the next time the program starts up, but I cannot
seem to find it at all.

Anybody want to clue me in? It would be appreciated,

Try this:
1) To set the folder's options as you have them, press F5. - This refreshes
the view, so that the previous one is not in memory.
2) Hold down the CTRL key while closing the window with the "X" in the upper
right hand corner. This apparently forces the window settings to be recorded
in the registry. (Do not close the folder using Exit from the File menu.)

This info came from Glen Ventura in the Windows 98 news groups and seems to
work in XP as well.

Good luck,
Dave

Interesting. I don't see the relevance of "1)" below as I'm not talking about
Windows Explorer, but I'm willing to bring up a copy just to hit F5 when I close
Netscape (the program I am having problems with) . . .

As for "2)" below, I thought that was the key combo I wanted but it doesn't seem
to make any difference under WinXP H/E.

Any other thoughts?

I've tried simply resizing the window to the size and position I want, with only
one window for the program in question open, then closing that only existing
window and then restarting the program (Netscape, in this case) and it just
doesn't work anymore under XP H/E (I think it used to though!)
