Saving in a different format than WSWMM

I recently purchased a digital camcorder. I received a
copy of movie maker from the Gateway store where I
purchased the camera. I have had a ball playing with the
software, but I need to know how I can save a movie that
I make/change, etc in a format other than the the default
extension of WSWMM? I try to bring up the movie in
Windows Media Player and I can't play it there. It would
be nice if I could make a movie in Movie Maker and then
save it in a format that anybody could use. As it is,
only those with Movie Maker can view the movies.

Any help that can be provided would definitely be
appreciated. I have searched the help files, but can't
get the answer there.

PS: I have a couple more questions but don't want to
bury others with more than one at a time. :)

save in avi

hi i had the same problem as well. there is only one way
that i know how to get around this problem and thats to
save it as a DV-AVI file. it is uncompressed so it takes
up alot of space but if you have the space its worth
doing.once you have done this use a 3rd party program to
convert the avi file into mpeg or anything else you need
to get conversion software.
when you have made and clicked save movie as then click
the other button and find dv-avi format.
it should work if you have enough space.
hope it helps
