Saving Files from Office Pro 2003 and XP Pro Directory Structure

Hi,

I set my file locations in MS Word 2003 Pro to save in C:\Documents and
Settings\Mary01\My Documents\Word but the file isn't being saved there. When
I do a search it isn't found.

Also, I haven't had any luck with trying to create my own directories in XP.
The "Mary01" directory was created by the store that I purchased my PC from
and it seems that everything is tied to that directory. I tried moving the
My Document folder to the C: drive and then all my files were being created
in 2 places. It is very confusing. I'm afraid to change the "Mary01"
directory name because it is defaulted in everything no matter what I choose.

If there is an MS Office Pro 2003 or XP manual out there please tell me where.

Thank you in advance for any help.

What happens if you open My Documents from the start menu?
There should be a subfolder in there called word, if you created the Word
folder.
You create 'document/data' folders within My Documents eg with My Documents
open, File/New then name the new folder

How did you move My Documents?
There should be no need to move My Documents unless you have insufficient
space on the C drive - it is already in a Folder on the C drive.

There are many books on Winxp / Office e.g. Winxp or Office for Dummies

Do NOT attempt to rename / move or anything else 'Mary01'

I think I have figured it out. It appears that the file structure is tied
in some way to the XP login User Name that was created "Mary01". I found
that XP Pro created three separate "My Document" folders:

One under "Desktop" that points to C:\Documents and Settings\Mary01\My
Documents\

One under C:\Documents and Settings\Mary01\My Documents\

One under "C:\Mary01 Doucments" that points to C:\Documents and
Settings\Mary01\My Documents\

I deleted the "C:\Mary01 Documents" folder since it was just pointing to the
main folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Mary01\My Documents\" . I don't need
another set of folders created that just point to the main folder for My
Documents.

I guess I'll have to hunt down an XP Pro Manual to learn about how the file
structures are created and what the realtionship is to the User Login to the
PC.

Thanks for your help.
