Save Picture As.....

S

Sam

Using Windows XP Pro. Whenever I am on a web page using Internet Explorer
and want to download and save a photo, I right click the photo and select
Save Picture As. This brings up the My Pictures folder in Thumbnail view
mode. I have all my folder options in Windows Explores set to show Details.

How can I change the default Save Picture As folder to a folder of my choice
and have that folder show up in the Detail view?

If I understand correctly, you want to see your picture files arranged in
Details view rather than Thumbnails view.
There is an icon in the folder's toolbar to the right of the blue arrow
icon. It is a white square with tiny icons within it. Click the arrow next
to the white icon and choose Details view.

Hi Sam,

This is by default. The My Pictures folder will always be set to thumbnail
view. In order to change this other than third party, add a folder at
system level to the Common Dialog and set the view accordingly.

More info on that:

For Pro:

Go to Start/Run and type in: gpedit.msc then navigate to:

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/ Windows
Explorer/Common Open File Dialog/Items Displayed in Places Bar.

Choose Enabled then paste or type the link to the folders that you want
listed.

Or...

Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 118
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Or use TweakUI/Common Dialogs
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

To hide the Common Places Bar: For Pro go to Start/Run and type in:
gpedit.msc. User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows
Components/Windows Explorer/Common Open Places/Hide the common dialog places
bar.

Note: To see the difference between the views, open Notepad and choose
File/Open before and after applying Enabled.

Thanks Kelly.

Not 100 percent of what I was thinking, but 99 percent! I hunted all over
for that fix and never found it in the Help nor search engines. I must
remember to check Kelly's Korner more often!

Your explanation makes my computing habits much simpler.
