"Save Picture As" option

When I try to save images and animations from the internet onto my computer, using "save picture as" the only option that my computer allows is to save as a bitmap file. I need this changed to jpeg or gif, but don't know how.

Thanks for the articles, John. Unfortunately, after going through and trying all of the options, I still have the problem. Any more suggestions?

Someone had this same problem in a Yahoo group I belong
to, and the accepted answer was to empty out all your
Internet Explorer temporary files - Open IE, go to
Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Delete Files> put a
check in front of "Delete all offline content" and hit
OK, let Windows delete the files, then hit OK again to
exit the Internet options window - That seemed to clear
up the issue for them. I hope it helps.

Are you positive that you have deleted all of
your temp and temporary internet files? Try
running Disk CleanUp (All Options).

The following article offers info on the WinXP
Disk Clean Up tool:

Thanks Carabalda and John. You were right, John, the Internet files were not totally deleted. I tried all the methods suggested by Microsoft, but what worked was your suggestion Carabalda - simple and efficient. Thanks again for clearing up this problem for me!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad you solved the problem.

Deleting all your temp files on a regular schedule should
prevent the issue from occurring in the future. FWIW...
I delete mine daily.
