Sasser Worm? Boot Problem...

I had problem recently with the Audio Device disappeared and tried a lot of things even reinstalling XP at the end because i was out of ressource.

Some people on this board we're giving me a website
Kelly where did my sound go and i wasn't able to visit the site..
when i was clicking on the link i was seeing the ip adresse on bottom left and the website was inaccesible
After formating i found out that this IP adresse was in the list of thoses blocked by Sasser Worm..
After a clean format, only installed windows update critical and motherboard, sound and graphic card driver..
I reboot, get to Splash Screen and the Splash Screen Freeze after the timeout trying to find the OS
I can't boot standard, last configuration won't work, but i can boot in safe mode..
I try to restore to an earlier point, same thing...

I just reformat... reinstall everything, Play FFXI all night long. Go to sleep and my roommate tell me that my computer isn't starting anymore... so I try, and the splash screen does the same thing...

I've talk to someone who had the sasser worm and she had to buy another hard drive... because the memory of her harddrive was corrupted and unusable. So i tried a chkdsk in xp... and tried to find bad sector with none..
Now i don't know what to do. This computer was going A1 for the last year...
and now nothing works...

-Amd Athlon XP 2000
-Msi K7T Turbo 2 mainboar
-Sound Blaster Live ! Valu
-GeForce MX400 64m
-D-Link Ethernet Car
-Cable modem connectio

After a clean format, installed Windows update Sp1 + Sp1 critica
driver for the mainboard, driver for the soundblaster, driver for the geforce..
right after FFXI (Final Fantasy Online) and the problem with the splash screen timeout or freeze happens

Ask roommate what he/she did while you were in la la land.

When you reinstall windows do you activate the firewall before going on the net? Do you have a antivirus program running before getting on the net. You maybe getting infected when you first sign back on.
