My Samsung cdrom keeps disappearing on my Dell Dimension 2350. It can't eject
and disappears from MyComputer. I've removed 3rd party software such as "Nero
Burning" and I've already tried removing registry keys dealing with upper &
lower filter cdrom parameters. No success.
The message from event viewer is:
The device 'SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S'
(IDE\CdRomSAMSUNG_CD-R/RW_SW-252S_________________R901____\5&1202a50f&0&0.0.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.
Is there anything I can try to fix this?
I AM REALLY INTERESTED in a way to recover the cdrom WITHOUT RE BOOTING THE
PC ( Reboot always brings it back..). I tried scanning for new hardware, no
good.. Is there a way to get XP to re-initialize the drive? or restart the
driver? Is there a way to achieve whatever XP does at boot, but without
rebooting?
I greatly appreciate any advice.
