Safely Remove Hardware with usb devices - no longer get

D

Don Burnette

I do not know what has changed, but I know longer get, upon plugging a usb
device in, the sound prompt, nor the icon in the systray which gives you the
option to stop the device to safely remove it.

My usb devices, when I plug them in, work just fine, but I no longer get the
sound upon plugging them in, nor the option to stop the device to safely
remove it.

Anyone know of a fix to restore this?

Thanks,

T

Remove all the USB devices and hosts from the Device Manager, also the
hidden ones. Restart Windows.

I was just checking in device manager, it actually shows my usb devices
plugged in, it is just I don't get the sound when connecting or
disconnecting any longer, nor do I get the prompt to stop the device to
safely remove it for things like my usb2 external hard drive and digital
camera...

Have you tried what I told you?

Don,

I was searching the posts as I have the same issues with the safely remove
hardware icon. After removing all of the usb devices & reboot
ing the icon shows up in the toobars after the devices have reloaded.
However, upon restarting or shut down \restart, the icon disappears. It also
migrates back to the past items in tasbar \ customize area. If I just remove
the device in question (usb flobby device), as soon as it is removed the icon
appears. However, upon rebooting it is gone! I tried this several times so
I am sure of what is going on.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Danny
